Madeleine's Daughter Bridal first opened in downtown Portsmouth in 1975 with a small selection of wedding dresses. The original owner (whose mom is Madeleine...hence the name!) had a passion to help brides feel beautiful on their wedding day and genuinely cared about all her customers. Her passion for making brides happy was matched when she hired Elizabeth as a stylist in 1995, who eventually bought the salon when she retired. Elizabeth has since grown Madeleine's Daughter into the award-winning salon it is today because of her continued mission to make sure every bride has a personal and enjoyable experience that is unlike anywhere else and exceeds all expectations.

Below you’ll find descriptions of each department at Madeleine's Daughter. Please keep in mind that Stylists are trained in all departments, as Stylists can be cross-departmentally appointed. As a retail store we are open nights, weekends, and some holidays, so we hope your availability aligns with ours! Whether or not we are hiring, we are always accepting applications! Bridal Styling

At the heart of wedding styling is the role of a Bridal Stylist. In this position, you not only play an integral role in each client's experience at MD, but you get the reward of facilitating an incredible milestone that each client will remember for a lifetime. For this full-time role, we look for applicants who are passionate about weddings, ambitious, confident, and enthusiastic!

Formalwear Styling

What is a wedding without the party? As a Formalwear Stylist, you will be responsible for styling Bridesmaids, Mother(s) of the Wedding, and Groomsmen. At Madeleine's Daughter, clients have the unique opportunity to conveniently shop for every member of their wedding party under one roof, and, as the Formalwear Stylist, you will be ensuring a seamless experience throughout each #MDLoveStory.

Suit & Tuxedo Styling

A Bride's best accessory on their wedding day is their partner! Should their other half choose to rent a Suit or Tuxedo, they will look to you to make sure they feel #madhandsome on their special day. As a Suit & Tuxedo Stylist, you are assisting Grooms and their parties throughout their entire journey, from style selection, to measurements, to returns.

Alterations

Not Currently Hiring, But Accepting Applications

Though we don't have an in-house alterations department, we do have a seamstress on staff to ensure our merchandise is always presented at the highest standard. Additionally, during an appointment, Stylists may look to you to lend accurate advice to their clients about what is possible with the dress they love in their alterations process. For this position, we look for someone with expert-level experience in altering Bridal and Formalwear gowns as no training is available.
