Dress Shopping Budget!

Finding your wedding dress is something you have dreamed about since you were a little girl, or at the very least since you met “the one”. Now you’re actually doing it! It’s going to be one of the best experiences of the whole planning process!

Only you can determine what you want to spend on your wedding gown. Figuring out how important the dress is compared to other wedding expenses is the key. For some brides, the dress takes top priority and so the sky’s the limit (or at least their budget is flexible)! For others, they want to stay around $1,000 or less. While we can help any bride regardless of her budget, it’s helpful to know that a budget of $1,500-$3,000 will be closest to the industry average and where most of our dresses range.

So, when you think about how much you want to spend on the dress, remember to think about all the little things that go along with it, too. There is not only the dress itself, but also the veil, jewelry, shoes, undergarments… and of course alterations!

Most brides spend about 50% of the cost of their dress on their accessories. You have to pick those pieces in order to complete your entire bridal look, so keep them in mind when determining your budget. The accessories are what make the wedding dress truly your own style. Plus, they’re really exciting to shop for!

To give you an idea, here’s a range of what you can expect to spend on the various accessories:

Veil- $150-$2,000

Headpiece- $200-$1,500

Jewelry (necklace, bracelet, earrings)- $80-$500/piece

Undergarments (bra, petticoat, spanx)- $45-$100

Shoes- $150-$400

You may also need a clutch, heel protectors, insoles, an emergency kit, etc....all these things can add up, too, but you’ll be SO happy to have them!

As for alterations, they are just as important as finding the right dress. You can read more about the alterations process and budget here. Important stuff here, guys- read it!
