How to Wear a Veil: Advice from Toni Federici
Wearing a veil is not something many people are accustomed to, so when a bride gets engaged and starts to create her wedding day look, it’s not exactly the most natural thing to gravitate towards. And yet, in our opinion, it’s one of the details that truly makes you a bride on your wedding day. The big, white dress doesn’t hurt, either, TBH.
But seriously, there’s a bit of a learning curve that you have to get through to figure out the best veil for you, for your venue, for the style of dress you chose, etc. And then there’s the question of exactly how to wear a veil.
Recently, Toni Federici, veil designer extraordinaire and her assistant Logan were in our store for a trunk show. We took the opportunity to talk to them about the details of wearing a bridal veil and how to do it RIGHT!
Of course, if this video still doesn’t help you feel confident in placing the veil exactly in the right spot and in the right way, you can always ask us when you’re here in the shop and we’ll be more than happy to help you out! Some brides even come to the store after their hair and make-up trials so we can help them figure out the best way to wear their veil. It may seem like a lot of effort, but it’s worth it in the end! And don’t even think about bringing your actual veil to the hair salon. You may think it’s a great idea, but in reality, a hair salon is a place that can inadvertently cause your veil to be damaged- hair spray can get on it, causing discoloration, or a stray curling iron could singe it (that can’t be repaired!), so rather than bring your own (very expensive) veil to the salon, just swing by Walmart or Joann Fabrics and buy a simple $5 veil from their wedding section. This will help your stylist determine the best placement while keeping YOUR veil safe from harm!
